"Against the market" growth of photovoltaic manufacturing end

Previously, there was not much innovation in the component sector for many years, but this year there are many innovations, and the manufacturing end gradually started to develop actively with innovation as the driving force.


"The market size declined in the first three quarters of this year, but the growth rate of the manufacturing end is accelerating." Wang Bohua pointed out that in the manufacturing end of last year, the growth rate of polysilicon was single digit in the whole year of 2018, and the growth rate of the other three links was below 20%, but the growth rate of the four links this year exceeded 30%, and the highest link was even close to 50%.


Why is China's application end declining while manufacturing end output is growing, and the growth rate is faster than last year? According to Wang Bohua, the main reason is that although China's market is shrinking, the global market is still in the process of rapid development. He cited several fast-growing emerging markets, such as Vietnam with an installed capacity of more than 40 gigawatts in the first half of the year, Ukraine with an installed capacity of 90% of the total installed capacity of last year in the first half of the year, and Mexico and other places with the same example this year. In addition, traditional overseas markets are expanding, such as Spain's installed capacity of 1.5 GW in nine months, surpassing the total installed capacity of the past decade.


In recent years, the export volume of China's photovoltaic industry has been at a new high. In addition to the traditional western developed country market, there are many new emerging markets. In the export of photovoltaic products, modules have always accounted for a relatively high proportion. With the innovation and development of cost reduction technology of components in China, some regions without conditions to install photovoltaic have gradually joined the ranks of China's export emerging markets.


"The development of the global photovoltaic industry has led to the rapid growth of the export of Chinese products. China photovoltaic Association expects that this year's export volume of China will be the third highest in the history after 2010 and 2011." Wang said.

"Before, technological innovation was our weakness, but now, some technologies in China's photovoltaic industry have broken the world record 16 times, and some records are still maintained, and all kinds of efficient technologies are in full bloom." The record breaking has proved that the technological innovation of China's photovoltaic industry in the past two years is very active.


In the overall wave of technological innovation of photovoltaic, high-efficiency battery technology stands at the forefront. Among them, the key back field passivation (PERC) battery and heterojunction (HIT) battery are the two main directions of technological innovation in China's photovoltaic enterprises.


The advantage of perc battery lies in the low cost of initial equipment investment. It only needs to add passive film deposition equipment and slotting equipment in the traditional battery production line, which has become the most commonly used technical route.


The production line of heterojunction battery needs to be rebuilt, and the initial investment cost is high. However, due to the higher conversion efficiency of heterojunction battery (the starting efficiency is 23%, and the highest efficiency record has reached 26%), the advantages of less production steps, short process flow, low process temperature, high low light response, and easier to reduce production cost, it is still considered to be a more promising technical route. At the same time, the double-sided generation characteristics of heterojunction battery also conform to the current trend of double-sided generation.
