Fire at Japan's Largest Floating Solar Power Station

On Monday afternoon, Japan's largest floating solar power plant caught fire, causing no injuries.

Located in Chiba County near Tokyo, the floating solar power station has more than 50,000 solar panels covering an area of about 18 hectares.

Fire authorities said preliminary investigations believed that the cause of the fire was typhoon Faxai, which landed earlier Monday. Strong winds cause some panels to stack against each other, generating huge amounts of heat and causing fires.

It is reported that the floating solar power plant was put into operation in 2018, with a maximum output capacity of 13.7 MW.
